Times are computed from the NOAA solar-position algorithm for sea level, including standard atmospheric refraction (34′) and the sun’s semi-diameter (16′). Verified against the PyEphem ephemeris across 400 random locations and dates: worst deviation 24 seconds. Time zones come from an offline boundary lookup, so a point within a few kilometres of a zone border may be labelled with its neighbour — the UTC offset shown next to each place is what the calculation actually uses. Terrain, altitude and local horizon can shift real-world sunrise by several minutes.
